Employee Assistance
A standard Dovedale EAP consists of external, self-referral, personal counselling and advisory services for all employees (often including families). Access is easy through our freephone help desk, run by experienced staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Problems dealt with range from information based queries through to more serious personal problems requiring accurate assessment and diagnosis and, where appropriate, short-term counselling or early onward referral for longer-term support. Typically, 3-5% of employees makes use of face to face counselling services in any twelve-month period of which 25% are likely to need longer-term help. Our EAPs are designed to meet the needs of each organisation. Services provided typically include work related and personal counselling as well as life management services such as financial and legal advice. |

Performance Management In addition to the standard features of the Dovedale EAP, and as an integral part of it, we are also able to offer Performance Management services. This part of your EAP offers managers and supervisors advice and help to minimise employee downtime and maximise performance. These services are designed to complement the more widely accepted features of a standard EAP by providing managers with practical solutions to help them address the potential causes of employee under performance. Typical use of Performance Management by Managers
If, for example, a member of your staff or team is proving particularly difficult to manage and you would like to consider alternative points of view on how best to deal with the situation, then you can do so by calling Dovedale's freephone helpline and asking to speak to one of our Performance Management Consultants. Like the helpline, this part of your EAP is external, independent and confidential and can be used as often as you like.
As a manager or supervisor, you are in a very good position to identify deterioration in an employee's performance, sometimes even before the employee does. Signs such as lateness for work, absenteeism, erratic behaviour, irritability, quickness of temper all point to an individual experiencing difficulties – irrespective of whether or not these are work or home based. How to suggest to an employee that he or she could make use of the EAP requires planning and sensitivity. To help do this successfully, Performance Management services includes the provision of on-site manager referral training courses.
Performance Management services have a significant role to play in the successful application and diffusion of a wide range of organisational policies such as those relating to harassment, substance abuse, stress management, trauma management, disciplinary procedures, and the use of advisory services to support staff. |

Specialist Services Dovedale Direct Ad hoc referrals for employees whose work or personal problems have become sufficiently serious to have been brought to the attention of senior management. Used on a stand-alone basis or as part of an EAP. Dovedale Trauma Critical incident debriefing services, contingency planning and management training services. Dovedale Expat The provision of on-going support services including limited session counselling and onward referral services for UK based foreign nationals and their families and for UK nationals overseas. Dovedale Intervention Services Strategic, interpersonal intervention, conflict resolution and investigation services. Training Services Dovedale is also able to provide a range of training services for managers in areas such as performance management and the use of counselling skills in the workplace. |
